Growth &
Multiple Campuses

  • April 2020 – Opening of the first formal Tokyo campus (Kuni Building, Tsukiji).

  • 2021– Opening of our second campus in Shin-Urayasu, Chiba

  • 2021–2023 – Significant increase in enrollment; introduction of Montessori+ curriculum with SDG-aligned activities.

Concept, Launch & Establishment

  • August 2014(Heisei 26) – Sunshine Kids Academy begins operations in Tokyo as an independent early childhood education initiative founded by Shazia Kitahara.

  • 2014–2016(Heisei 26–28) – The school develops its early learning program and community presence, serving local and international families through a small, nurturing preschool environment.

  • 2016(Heisei 28) – Sunshine Kids Academy is formally incorporated as Sunshine Kids Academy KK, establishing its registered company structure and supporting future growth and expansion.

  • 2017–2019 – Expansion of the preschool program, introduction of kindergarten readiness and early childhood enrichment classes.

2024

Expansion, Relocation
& Approval

  • August 2024 – The Shin-Urayasu Campus (Chiba) achieves Ninkagai approval (認可外保育施設).

  • Expansion of preschool and kindergarten groups, introduction of new classrooms and enhanced facilities.

  • September 10, 2024 (Reiwa 6) – Tokyo campus relocates from Kuni Building to VORT Shintomicho (Chuo-ku).

  • October 2024 – Tokyo campus officially receives Ninkagai approval.

Operational Development &
Program Expansion

  • Implementation of a unified Montessori+ Curriculum across both campuses.

  • Launch of new school bus services following Ninkagai standards.

  • Expansion of staff, including vice principal, compliance officer, and new lead teachers.

  • Strengthened administrative systems, Illumine management, and training structures.

  • Development of the Lower Elementary Program (first phase of CIS’s elementary expansion).

  • Introduction of extracurricular programs (Classical Ballet, Karate, Music).

  • Curriculum alignment toward Cambridge International Early Years and Primary frameworks.

  • Enhanced SDG-integrated projects and seasonal field studies.

  • Full Cambridge Early Years integration and future Primary accreditation.

  • Strengthening of community partnerships, international collaborations, and family engagement programs.
